Al Hassan Engineering achieves 1 million safe man-hours for Dubailand-2 Project (22 July 2010)

MUSCAT - Al Hassan Engineering Co. SAOG (AHEC) gives the highest priority to Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) so as to protect and keep safe its employees and the work place as well as to strive to achieve world class standards in HSE. Keeping this in mind, AHEC has executed a number of projects in Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Power and Water sectors without any lost time incidents (LTIs) and has now worked 35 million LTI free man-hours since 2007. In 2009, AHEC worked 12.3 million man-hours and drove 14.6 million km without any LTI. This completely unblemished record is achieved for second year in succession.

Once again, AHEC proved to be a Safety aware company through its subsidiary Al Hassan Engineering Co. Dubai LLC, by completing One Million Man hours without any Lost Time Incident in its first project at 400/132 kV Dubailand-2 Substation Project in UAE. The project is owned by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) with Siemens as the main contractor and Sigma as the project consultants.

Commenting on the achievement, Mr. Peter Hall, CEO-AHEC said: "At AHEC, our work force is our greatest asset and we invest time in training, and money in safety, to care for our team. Safety awareness is a top priority and measures are in place to ensure our team is looked after. It is important that we look after our hard-working team and continue to deliver the excellent results that our clients have come to expect from us."

"AHEC has won a number of awards in recognition of its continuous excellent HSE performance from industry associations, its clients and international EPC contractors. In 2009, PDO conducted "Letter of Assurance", HSE Audits on selected contractors including AHEC. AHEC has achieved the "Excellent" rating from PDO."

Mr. Hall thanked the Dubailand-2 project team for the achievement and requested them to keep up the good work and distributed Safety Award Certificates and mementos to chosen workers. He also thanked DEWA, Siemens and Sigma for their continued guidance and support on the HSE aspects of the project.
