Press ReleasesICEM students visit Al Hassan Switchgear Ghala Factory (16 May 2011)
In this regard, two batches comprising 80 students along with faculty from the International College of Engineering and Management (ICEM) visited the Ghala factory of Al Hassan Switchgear Manufacturing Company LLC (AHSG) on 14 and 15 May 2011. Prof. Samir Benghina, Faculty, ICEM, said that the visit came as a result of Al Hassan’s proactive approach and ICEM’s continuous search for new fields of educational exploration for trainees. “We believe that AHSG is one of the few full fledged manufacturers in the GCC with capabilities ranging from product design, system design to type tests and dispatch all under one roof. The visit offers an excellent opportunity for our students to learn about the practical aspects of Switchgear Manufacturing in a modern set up." A brief workshop was conducted by AHSG personnel on various Switchgear Products and related theories. The students had a visit through the factory to familiarize with the products and processes in the factory. The students were quite amazed to see the state of preparedness of AHSG in terms of taking care of the people, precious resources, and the environment. As the students are specializing in Safety management, they will be providing feedback from the academic point of view on the processes in our factory. All the students as well as their faculty expressed happiness with the information and knowledge they gained during their visit. They were extremely happy to learn the application side of what they have learnt in classroom and mentioned that it is a pride that Oman has such state-of-the-art factories. Samir Benghina, Coordinator of the industrial visit commented that he valued Al Hassan’s cooperation in making this visit a success. He expressed gratitude towards Al Hassan Group’s desire to strengthen ties with different educational establishments in the Sultanate. |
