Al Hassan Engineering felicitates H.E. Dr. Fuad Jaffer Sajwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries (21 April 2011)

Al Hassan Engineering Co. SAOG (AHEC), one of Oman’s leading Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contractors held an event on 20 April 2011 at Grand Hyatt Hotel to felicitate Dr. Fuad Jaffer Sajwani, Member of the Board of Directors, AHEC on his recently becoming Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries in His Majesty’s Government.

The event was graced by many top ranking Govt. officials including H.E. Undersecretaries, DGs, Advisors and H.E. Ambassadors of Austria, China, India, Japan and South Korea.

Speaking at the ceremony, Al Hassan Group’s Chairman, Mr. Hassan bin Ali Salman shared first a brief outline of H.E. Dr. Fuad’s distinguished career-graph. H.E. Dr. Fuad started his career with Development Council of Oman and thereafter Union Bank of Oman. In 1985, H.E. Dr. Fuad joined Central Bank of Oman and served in different capacities. He was Vice President of the Central Bank of Oman from 1998 till 2007 and also served as the Chairman of the College of Banking and Financial Studies. H.E. Dr. Fuad became a Member of the Shura Council in October 2007 and also the Chairman of its Economic Committee.

H.E. Dr. Fuad joined the Board of Directors of AHEC in March 2008 and also served as the Chairman of its Audit Committee till the time he was appointed as a Cabinet Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries of the Government of Sultanate of Oman in March 2011 by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

Mr. Salman commented, "Though we will miss him and his valuable guidance as a respected colleague in our Board; but are very happy with the career progression of His Excellency Dr. Fuad, as he has been entrusted with the larger responsibility of serving the people of Sultanate of Oman."

Mr. Salman added, "During his tenure of three years as a Director on the Board of AHEC, we have tremendously benefited from his vast experience and valuable guidance to the Company from time to time. H.E. Dr. Fuad brought with him to our Board his vast and varied experience, accumulated over the years as Vice President of Central Bank of Oman, Member of Majis As’Shura and Chairman of its Economic Committee. H.E. Dr. Fuad’s significant contribution as a Chairman of the Audit Committee of our Board is worth mentioning as his astute financial acumen and expertise was a guiding force behind bringing a new and dynamic perspective to the financial performance of the Company."

Dr. Fuad for his invaluable advice and guidance during his tenure as a Director and also wish him wholehearted success in his new assignment. We are sure that H.E. Dr. Fuad will ably fulfill his duties as a Cabinet Minister under the wise and able leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and serve the people of the country with honour and distinction", said Mr. Salman.

Mr. Salman thanked all the distinguished and honourable dignitaries and guests for taking out their valuable time to attend the function.
