Al Hassan to enable e-procurement through Tejari (09 Jul 2008)

Al Hassan Group of Companies, one of Oman’s leading business conglomerates has signed an agreement with Omania E-Commerce LLC (OEC) to move its procurement processes online via “Tejari Transact”, the Middle East’s leading Business to Business (B2B) electronic market place. This move is expected to considerably help Al Hassan Group to further streamline its procurement processes and also allow it to reach out and be available to potential suppliers and business associates in other parts of the world. The agreement was signed by Maqbool Ali Salman, the Managing Director of Al Hassan Group of Companies and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Suleiman Al-Harthy, the Managing Director of OEC.

The Al Hassan Group will implement the B2B e-marketplace across all its three Strategic Business Units (SBUs), viz., Contracting, Trading, and Manufacturing. Al Hassan Engineering Co. S.A.O.G. (AHEC), the Contracting SBU, is the first contracting company in Oman to be listed on the Muscat Securities Market (Code: HEC). AHEC is a reputed contracting company with proven capabilities in civil, mechanical, structural, electrical and instrumentation and pipeline disciplines. The Trading SBU, Al Hassan Electricals LLC has over three decades of experience in representing and marketing Electrical Transmission, Distribution and Auxiliary equipment from world leaders within Oman and UAE. The Manufacturing SBU, Al Hassan Switchgear Manufacturing Company LLC manufactures Medium Voltage & Low Voltage Switchgears and Control Panels. It is by far the leader in its field with 65% market share in Oman with 60% of its production getting exported to Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries.

Speaking on the occasion Mr Maqbool Ali Salman, Managing Director - Al Hassan Group of Companies said that all over the world, technology is revolutionizing the way businesses operate and e-marketplaces, like Tejari Transact, are significantly changing the process of interactions between organizations and quality business associates locally, regionally and globally. And while, there may still be several stages of evolution that e-marketplaces in the region will have to cross before they become as advanced as e-marketplaces globally, the undeniable fact is - this is the future and we at Al Hassan would like to evolve with the times.

Al Hassan Group’s intention is to integrate the e-marketplace with its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform allowing it to reduce the paperwork which will contribute in reducing time, effort and operating expenses.
