Al Hassan Group holds prize distribution ceremony for its Annual Sports Competitions (15 Jun 09)

Fun and games fit right into the "People Management" strategy. Al Hassan Group of Companies has always believed that People are its most important asset and in order to maintain a healthy work life balance, has an in-house cell called Al Hassan Recreation Club (AHRC), which caters to the sports and entertainment needs of staff, executives and management members based in the capital area Muscat as well as at various project sites. The idea is to nurture the extracurricular skills of employees and provide opportunities to showcase their talents- be it in sports, music, dance, art or other fields. "This gives our employees a chance to socialise with peers and exchange thoughts and ideas in an informal setting. Such events also help inculcate qualities like leadership, trust, team spirit and cooperation within the employees," says Sudesh Chaturvedi, Sr. AGM - HR and President - AHRC.

AHRC is having facilities of indoor games like Table Tennis & Carom along with a gymnasium and is supporting outdoor sports, viz., Football, Volleyball and Cricket. AHRC has been conducting group level sports competitions covering Football, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis and Carom for more than two decades. Al Hassan has a full fledged cricket team that regularly participates in inter-company tournaments held in Oman. Besides sports, AHRC also organizes staff picnics and tambola sessions for its members.

For 2009, the group level sports competitions were held in May 2009 and a prize distribution function to honour the employees who finished as winners and runner-ups was held on 11th June, in Hotel Golden Oasis, Wadi Kabir. The occasion was graced by the Chairman - Mr Hassan Ali Salman, MD - Mr Maqbool Ali Salman and other senior management team members.

Mr. Hassan Ali Salman attributed the success of this competition to the participation of a mix of employees from different nationalities with multicultural and multilingual background and origin, all congregating under one roof and emphasised on using in-house facilities to have a healthy body and mind .
