Al Hassan Switchgear holds Annual Staff Function (28 Feb. 2011)

The annual staff function of Al Hassan Switchgear Manufacturing Co. LLC was held on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Crystal Suites, Wadi Kabir. During the function which was attended by both Ghala and Buraimi factories’ employees, a number of Omani as well as expatriate employees were given long term service awards. Employees who have served the company for more than 10/15 years of service were recognized for their sincerity and commitment towards the company.

Besides Al Hassan’s Chairman, Mr Hassan bin Ali Salman, MD, Mr Maqbool Ali Salman, many senior figures of the executive management including Eng. Talal Al Assaad, CEO-Manufacturing & Trading, Mr Joseph Chandru - GM and Mr. B. Sreekumar, AGM graced the occasion.

The Program began with screening of a short film on AHSG which was well appreciated by the staff.

Mr. Joseph Chandru lauded the staff on their excellent performance and thanked them for their dedicated services to Al Hassan’s customers. He thanked the Corporate Management for its support.

Eng. Talal exhorted all the employees to continue their hard work and put more efforts in maintaining the leadership position which Al Hassan Switchgear enjoys today in the Sultanate. He emphasized the need to continue to deliver its core message as the number one Switchgear manufacturer in the Sultanate in all areas with focus on quality and customer service. He mentioned that AHSG has started 2011 with a good backlog due to a number of large orders secured in 2010. In Oman, AHSG has won many prestigious orders including PDO Qarn Alam Power Plant-3 and PDO Amal Steam Surface Facilities Project, Jebel Sifah Beach Project and Muscat International Airport Expansion Project. All these orders have been won from international EPC contractors and consultants against fierce domestic as well as international competition. In addition, AHSG has been selected by PDO for supply of Beam pump control panels for a long term contract till 2015.

AHSG has also won a major export order for Qatar's utility major KAHRAMAA to design and supply low voltage switchgear panels from Siemens Qatar, Hyosung South Korea and Siemens LLC Abu Dhabi.

Mr Maqbool Ali Salman encouraged all the employees to think creatively and help in developing innovative solutions. He particularly pointed out that Creativity and Innovation are not domain or position specific. He stressed on the importance of advanced training to be conducted for the Omani workforce, in order for them to be prepared as leaders of tomorrow. Mr. Salman reiterated that one of the responsibilities of a leading private sector enterprise like Al Hassan was to develop prestige of the Sultanate of Oman through its good products and services. In fact, he mentioned that success of Al Hassan Switchgear would help other Omani products penetrate the international market. He also emphasized that in a technology driven market like Switchgear, Al Hassan has been implementing various initiatives and processes in its ongoing quest to achieve business excellence. These include the implementation of the Balanced Score Card tool of Key Performance Indicator monitoring and the utilisation of the European Foundation for Quality Management model (EFQM) for monitoring, benchmarking and improving all aspects of business performance.

Later, an Open House was conducted wherein staff got an opportunity to directly interact with the Corporate management. The employees appreciated Corporate Management’s efforts to enhance the sense of belongingness to the organization.

In the end, a draw of lots was conducted and dozens of prizes were given to the winners by Mr. Hassan bin Ali Salman.
